Robert has found a love for triathlons. He completed his first one last month with Chris and Dan. He then signed up for another one the next day. The boys did Nathan's Triathlon in Tempe and all completed it together (awe) in 1 hour 40 min.
Robert is competitive and wanted to shave some time off for his next one.
Robert completed his second one today-- the Mesa Triathlon and he did it solo. His time was amazing. He was 20 minutes faster than the previous one. Wowzer.
That was so great for him... and sad for me and the kids.
The race started at 7am at ASU PolyTech campus in Mesa. I got all the kids up, dressed, fed and loaded up and off to the race around 745am. We guessed Robert would be crossing the finish line at 830. We made great timing until we hit the site of the race. I missed the turn and had to go 5 miles out of our way.
We parked, speed walked with Emma in the stroller, Gabe running and Corban walking holding my hand to me carrying him so we could see Robert pass the finish line. We made it to the finish line and saw Robert... on the other side eating orange slices (what they give you when you are done). Saddened I stayed positive and said "Look there's dad! He finished the race!" The boys were so happy, cheered and ran to Robert. So close. We are so PROUD of you Robert! You are amazing!!!
